McElrea Racing have successfully re-engineered one of the best race cars in the world.

Not to make it faster but to allow N2C guest speaker and team member Matt Speakman to drive it using only his hands.

“It took some figuring out”, said Team Principal Andy McElrea. “But I knew the boys could make it work”. We asked Matt to give us a quick run-down of the controls.

“Well its pretty straight-forward”, said Matt. “You pull on the aluminum ring on the steering wheel to go. All the other controls are on the lever on the right. There is a trigger to operate the clutch and “up” and “down” buttons to change gears. You push the same lever forward to stop”.

“You use the steering wheel to turn”, he added with a smile.

Matt is scheduled to race with the controls in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge.
